Fireplace Decorating Ideas

A ventless fireplace can go anywhere in your home. You can move it from room to room. But, you can also leave it in one place and put others around your home in other locations. If you choose to keep your ventless fireplaces in a location, there are some really great decorating ideas you can use to dress them up just like traditional wood-burning fireplaces.

Mirrors

Use large mirrors over the fireplace. They reflect the light from the room. They make the room look larger than what it actually is. If you live in a small apartment, that’s a great technique to use.

Hearth

Ventless fireplaces have a base. But, you can build a hearth. Raise the fires up a foot or two and give the hearth a beautiful design.

Wall

You can build the fireplace into the wall. There are several different ways to make that happen. The first is to cut into the wall and set it back between the studs. The other is to build the wall out to be flush with the unit. Either way, you can create a faux stone or faux wood finish on the wall in any design you wish. Extend the finish out to the corners, or just highlight the fireplace.

Mosaic

Bring the wall out to be flush with the ventless fireplace unit. Then, decorate with small tiles creating a mosaic of your own design. Use small mirrors or silver glittery tiles. Go with different colours and splash them all over the wall. It just might be the most fun you’ve had in a while.

Brick

Build the hearth with brick and then create a brick encasing for your fireplace. Paint the brick white and add a nice dark wood mantel. Leave the brick red and add a nice light oak wood mantel. You can go in many directions with this idea.

Corner

When you place the ventless fireplace in the corner, you can literally showcase it in a wood design. Take wood slats and run them at a diagonal direction. Cut the wood slats right so that the fireplace shows through. When you are finished, you’ll have the fireplace in the corner with a diagonal extension of the wall showing off your wonderful ventless fireplace. It’s actually one of the best designs in my book.

The ventless fireplace comes with everything you need to get started. But, we are naturally a creative bunch of people. The fireplace doesn’t just have to sit against the wall or in the corner. It can be highlighted and shown off to the world.
